Michael Kapfer Appointed as Principal of Longwood Middle School

The Longwood Central School District is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Kapfer as the new principal of Longwood Middle School. Having served as Assistant Principal at Longwood High School since October 2019, Mr. Kapfer brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the Longwood community.

With 15 years of dedicated service in education, Mr. Kapfer has fostered transformative initiatives in curriculum, instructional leadership, and student achievement. As Assistant Principal at Longwood High School, he successfully oversaw the Mathematics and ENL Departments while managing the Grade Reporting Office and Master Schedule.

Prior to Longwood, Mr. Kapfer served as Math Team Instructional Leader achieving remarkable results, closing the achievement gap for 7th graders in 2016 and 2017. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at Relay Graduate School of Education, preparing first-year teachers in mathematics instruction.

"Mr. Kapfer is an exceptional leader who has a deep understanding of our students and school community," said Dr. Lohman, Superintendent of Schools. "We are confident that with his years of service at Longwood High School, combined with his passion for education and proven track record, Mr. Kapfer will excel as Principal of Longwood Middle School. We are excited to see him continue his journey within the Longwood family."

Mr. Kapfer holds a Post-Master's Certification in Educational Leadership from SUNY Stony Brook University, a Master of Arts in Mathematics from SUNY University at Albany, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He is also a graduate of the Principal-Leadership Academy.

"Having worked within this amazing district, I am excited to continue to collaborate with our outstanding staff, students, and families at Longwood Middle School to ensure that every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential."
