Legislative Committee Meets with Senate and Assembly Officials
Post
As part of Longwood’s long-standing commitment to advocacy for public education, a team of 28 members from our Legislative Committee, including Board President Mrs. Victoria Molloy, Superintendent Dr. Lohman, administrators, students, and community members, traveled to the New York State Capitol to meet directly with representatives from the Senate and Assembly to advocate for critical issues impacting public education.
After a full morning of meeting with legislators, the committee was honored to be welcomed as special guests and introduced on the assembly floor by Assemblyman Joe DeStefano.
This unique opportunity and experience provide our students with the knowledge and tools to become informed and proactive citizens and highlight the importance of advocacy in shaping policies that impact education and our local community.
We could not be more proud of how well our students represented Longwood, and we extend our sincere gratitude to our legislators for dedicating their time to engage with our students and hear their concerns.
