Longwood to Host  Unity Walk in Recognition of Martin Luther King DayIn honor of Martin Luther King Day, the District will host a Unity Walk focusing on service learning, civil rights, employment and unity on Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 11:00am – 2:00pm.  Participants will meet at Coram Elementary School and walk together, as a sign of solidarity, to the Coram Fire Department.

We are proud to welcome guest presenter and global citizen Oliver Mashaka who will speak about his journey of seeking political asylum in the United States after leaving his home in Kenya.  Mr. Mashaka had a dream to earn a college degree in the United States and began his studies at Suffolk County Community College. He received a degree in political science and sociology with a focus in Asian studies from Stony Brook University and had enrolled at Shanghai University studying Chinese language and philosophy.

In addition to student art presentations, there will be numerous community resource groups in attendance.
