Frances Stewart

Frances Stewart was
born on May 28, 1919 in Easton, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter
of Eva (Ellsworth Johnson) and the Reverend William Stewart. Before
entering the service she was employed as a teacher at the Medford
School. Miss Stewart enlisted in the Coast Guard in November of 1943
and entered the service on February 1, 1944. She was sent to the
Coast Guard Training Station at Palm Beach, Florida for boot camp
and also attended Storekeeper School. Stewart would spend from July
1944 to her discharge in May, 1946 at Charleston, South Carolina,
DCGO, 6th N.D. A brother Norman Stewart would serve in
the Army Air Force.
