LHS Business Teacher Elected to  NYS FBLA Board of TrusteesJessica Gartland, a business teacher at Longwood High School and co-advisor of the school’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter, has been elected to the New York State FBLA Board of Trustees. Ms. Gartland will be serving FBLA’s District 1S - Suffolk County.

In this role, Ms. Gartland will assist with the organization of FBLA local and state-level student meetings, oversee regional and state-level student competitions, author exams for the state-level competitions, and assist FBLA student officers with their demanding roles and responsibilities. Additionally, Ms. Gartland will provide guidance to align New York State and National FBLA competitions to ensure growth opportunities for all student members.

“You have made an inordinate commitment to serve in this capacity, and should be commended for this display of dedication to the teaching profession,” said Diane M. Masters, NYS FBLA Selection Committee and District 11 Board Member. “Congratulations are in order!”

FBLA prepares high school students for college and career through co-curricular educational programs. Members take part in academic competitions, networking events with accomplished business professionals, and community service projects. Members also have exclusive access to scholarships from a select group of academic institutions.
