New Principal Appointed at Coram Elementary SchoolThe district is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Knott as the new principal at Coram Elementary School, effective November 4, 2019. Mr. Knott replaces Susan Connolly, who recently retired.
Since December 2014, Mr. Knott served as assistant principal at Coram where he worked with the district’s literacy and math team, initiated thes school's  Code of Conduct Committee, increased parent involvement, coordinated STEAM activities, and served as the Campus Leader for the Leader in Me initiative.
“I am honored to take on the role of principal at Coram Elementary, and working collaboratively with staff, our enthusiastic students, and caring community,” said Mr. Knott. “I look forward to continuing to provide equitable learning environments for all students, creating strong classroom communities, and continuing the established excellence here at Coram.”
Mr. Knott joined the district as a middle school teacher in 2001 where he served as lead teacher for the district’s fifth-grade English and Language Arts program, piloted the Google Apps for Education program, and developed a literacy curriculum.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Pace University, a Master’s degree in Education Literacy from Dowling College and a Post Master’s Certificate from Stony Brook University.
“We are very excited to work with Mr. Knott in his new administrative role,” said Dr. Michael R. Lonergan, Superintendent of Schools. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position, and we know that he will continue to impact the growth and improvement of all students.”
