Yvette Mercado-Tilley Named Principal of Middle School

Yvette Mercado-Tilley Named Principal of Middle SchoolThe Board of Education has appointed Yvette Mercado-Tilley as the principal of Longwood Middle School, replacing Dr. Tracy Adams.
Mrs. Tilley is a familiar face around the district, having served as an administrator since 2006 when she began her career as assistant principal at Ridge Elementary School. She was appointed assistant principal and principal at Charles E. Walters Elementary School in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
“Mrs. Tilley is an extremely qualified leader and educator that has been successful in diverse roles in the district,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael R. Lonergan. “Her extensive knowledge of education and leadership skills, combined with her student-centered commitment to excellence, will serve her well as she leads the middle school.”
“I am honored to serve as principal of the middle school,” said Mrs. Tilley. “Throughout my tenure at Longwood, my goal has been to cultivate a positive environment where students can develop into successful life-long learners. I am fortunate to continue to work with such dedicated school leaders, teachers, staff members, and parents in the Longwood School community.”
Mrs. Tilley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Black and Puerto Rican Studies from Hunter College, her Master of Science in Elementary Education degree, as well as her Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from Mercy College.
